Sweet Scent of Digital Aromas
You may not be able to actually smell the delightful aromas, but your mind will produce the scents when it's tantalized with an array of visually appealing culinary treats prepared before your very own "digital" eyes as part of the first ever blogger-hosted virtual cooking school. ConAgra Foods partnered with online community TheMotherhood.com to launch "Cooking Connections," an eight-week series of live blogging classes and discussions hosted on TheMotherhood.com. The online cooking platform also provides a way for other brands such as Tropicana, American Eagle, Verizon, Clorox and Marriott to connect with participant moms via the live weekly "chats" co-hosted by mom bloggers. The cooking classes are cross-posted live on Twitter and Facebook, running weekly through March 16. All moms who use social media are welcomed to participate and encouraged to share their cooking experiences with the Cooking Connections community through Flickr, as well as Twitter and Facebook.ConAgrafoods.com will archive text-based blog posts on its site for those who miss the live sessions. Celebrity chef/ConAgra spokesperson George Duran launched the first class during Blissdom, the recent women's blogging conference held in Orlando, Florida. ConAgra's support of this initiative reflects recent survey results that 81 percent of mothers use the Internet to find new recipes and foods and 77 percent agree that the Internet is the top source for recipes.
