Tumbling Way To Millennial Connections
As a Miami Heat fan, I was thrilled when my hometown franchise recently was crowned NBA champion. I watched all the special post game programs, celebrations and read fan chatter on several social networking sites. But only on the Miami Heat Tumblr blog site that my son visited regularly was I able to get a behind-the-scenes look at events that was refreshing. With so many social networks vying for users, every network has to establish itself in a unique way. With more than 39 million users, half of whom are under the age of 25, the micro-blogging site Tumblr uses photos and video to tell much more compelling stories than simple text online. Larger social networks have more varied demographics, but Tumblr offers Rainmakers a chance to connect with a much more targeted audience. Tumblr's rise hasn't gone unnoticed. Brands are now leveraging the platform's ads that appear as highlighted posts. The channel's appeal to Millennials appears to be an aggressive uptrend and that will no doubt continue to attract brands who thirst for digital connections with this elusive demographic.
